An immigrant rights group says a Montana judge acted illegally when he asked a sheriff's deputy to take away from his court a Mexican-born man who was later detained by federal immigration authorities.

An Atlanta-based financial advisory firm has reached a settlement with Montana regulators over the alleged illegal activities of one of the company's former employees in Missoula.

A former Montana teacher has denied a charge she had sex with a male student under the age of 16 in early 2015.

Montana counties are starting to ban indoor vaping.

A Missoula County district court judge ruled Monday that a man convicted of raping a woman in Missoula in 2013 will not return to prison, despite a series of parole violations.

Beau Donaldson was sentenced to 30 years in prison with 20 suspended after he pleaded guilty to a 2010 rape. The former University of Montana football player was released on parole in 2016 and has been living in Bozeman.

A student at Stevensville High School who police say made a threat to harm staff and students was arrested Friday.

U.S. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has changed a proposed overhaul of his department with a new organizational map that more closely follows state lines instead of the natural boundaries he initially proposed.

A political watchdog organization says Secretary Zinke appears to have violated a conflict of interest law by meeting with executives of a Montana firearms company in which he holds stock.

A student at Stevensville High School who police say made a threat to harm staff and students was arrested today. That’s according to the Ravalli County Sheriff’s Department. The student is a juvenile male. He was arrested for felony intimidation. The Sheriff’s Department says “there no longer is a perceived threat at the Stevensville Schools.”

About half of the students at Missoula’s Big Sky High School left early Thursday, following the discovery of graffiti in a girls bathroom Thursday morning.

A press release from Missoula County Public Schools said he graffiti read, "Don't be at Big Sky at 1:20."

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has identified the missing backcountry skier they’ve been searching for since Saturday evening as Dr. Jonathan Scott Torgerson, a 62-old-physician from Columbia Falls who has long practiced in the area.

Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton says an 18-year-old Darby High School senior has been arrested on a felony charge after he allegedly made a social media threat toward the school district.

Federal officials are offering a $100,000 prize to find a way to kill invasive quagga and zebra mussels.

Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton says an 18-year-old Darby High School senior has been arrested on a felony charge after he made a social media threat toward the school district.

A press release from the Sheriff’s office says, “school officials were made aware of a SnapChat message that had been received by other students.  The message referenced the recent school shooting in Florida, and implied a threat of violence to the Darby School District.”

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has identified the missing backcountry skier they’ve been searching for since Saturday evening as Dr. Jonathan Scott Torgerson, a 62-old-physician from Columbia Falls who has long practiced in the area.

The Sheriff’s office says it got a report at approximately 7:15 p.m. Saturday that Torgerson was overdue from a solo ski in the Flower Point area of Whitefish Mountain Resort.
