HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Donald Trump has won Montana's Republican primary presidential election.

Trump's win Tuesday gives him 27 delegates and moves him closer to locking up the Republican nomination on a night in which delegate-rich states such as California and New Jersey also went to the polls.

Trump shored up his support in Montana with a campaign stop in Billings less than two weeks before the election. He is the only Republican candidate to appear in the state during the primary election season.

Trump became the presumptive nominee when his final opponents, Ted Cruz and John Kasich, dropped out of the race. However, Cruz, Kasich, Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio were all previously certified by Montana's secretary of state, and their names appeared on Tuesday's ballot.
