Montana’s two-year colleges: new names, new logos – and new roles

As we reported earlier, the two-year Bitterroot College in Hamilton became the last of the seven two-year colleges in the state to unveil its new name and logo. Montana's two-year colleges have seen a spike in enrollment and variety of courses offered, and officials expect that trend to continue. John Cech is Deputy Commissioner for Two-Year and Community College Education.

In this feature interview, Cech talks with News Director Sally Mauk about the changing role of the two-year colleges, and the future of the relatively new Bitterroot College.

Retired in 2014 but still a presence at MTPR, Sally Mauk is a University of Kansas graduate and former wilderness ranger who has reported on everything from the Legislature to forest fires.
