A former Montana Secretary of State has announced he’s exploring a possible run for president, and plans to fundraise while traveling with his new band.

Corey Stapleton, a Republican from Billings, has served as a state senator and ran unsuccessfully for governor and the U.S. House. He released his first country music album earlier this month.

Stapleton tweeted that he’s formed a “testing the waters” committee, a type of federal election committee that does not require an individual to register as a candidate while raising and spending money to explore the feasibility of running for office.

Stapleton says he wants to help solve problems, like what he calls a broken U.S. economy and the country’s debt.
