Pre-Evacuation Notices Issued Near Boulder Due To The Haystack Fire

Pre-evacuation notices remain in effect due to the Haystack Fire burning near Boulder.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's office has issued a pre-evacuation notice for the following areas. Resident in these areas should be prepared to evacuate soon:
- South of the Boulder River and Cattle Drive west of Highway 69
- North of and including Boulder Hot Springs
- Silver Bell Road area
Pre-evacuation status for the Depot Hill/Boomerang Gulch area was lifted Sunday afternoon. Residents in those areas should maintain their situational awareness, but those living north of I-15 are no longer under pre-evacuation status.
If you feel unsafe, or if you think you will need extra time to leave, you should do so now. If you need sheltering assistance, please call 1-800-272-6668.
A public meeting is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. at the white barn at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Boulder.
According to the Sheriff's Office, "the fire has spotted northeast of Elder Creek, past the Gatlin Gulch fire from earlier this summer." The fire is now estimated to be between roughly 6,000-7,000 acres.
Fire crews will continue to work on structure protection in the pre-evacuation areas. Please do not travel into those areas to observe operations.
The Sheriff's Office asks that you please do not call 911 for information unless you have an emergency.
