Sperry Chalet Reconstruction Nears Completion

The reconstruction of the Sperry Chalet in Glacier National Park is nearly complete after two seasons of work. The historic chalet was consumed by Sprague Fire in 2017, leaving only its stone exterior.

Guests will again be able to stay in the chalet in the 2020 season. Acting Glacier National Park spokesperson Gina Kerzman says that only the finishing touches are left on the Sperry Chalet.

"There’s some painting, hardware projects, some staining, then final cleanup will have to be done as well. And then after that, the concessioner, Belton Chalets, will start moving in the furniture. They’ll need to start replacing the beds and other things that were lost in the fire for it to be fully operational."

That work is expected to be complete late next spring. The exact date for the reopening hasn’t been set, but reservations for the 2020 season will open on Jan. 13.
