Prescribed Fire Sending Smoke To Missoula

Pile burning operations within the Marshall Woods project area, September 2019.

Pile burning operations in the same area as this week’s prescribed fire took place last month. Both are part of the Forest Service’s Marshall Woods Restoration Project.";s:

A prescribed fire in Missoula’s Rattlesnake corridor is sending up plumes of smoke today.

District Fire Manager Jesse Kurpius says the 44-acre fire is dying down, but staff is closely monitoring the burn and extinguishing hot spots. He expects smoke to be visible for the next several days, until the week’s forecast of rain and snow puts out any remaining embers.
