Las Vegas Shooting Survivors Encouraged To Apply For Medical Funding

Survivors of last year’s shooting outside the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas have until October 1 to apply for the Nevada Victims of Crime Program. The Nevada Victims of Crime Office reports that 135 Montanans had tickets to the festival, but only 28 have applied for the program.

The program has funding available to reimburse out-of-pocket expenses resulting from the shooting, including medical bills and counseling co-pays not covered by insurance. Those outside of Nevada or without current payments due are still eligible and encouraged to apply, with the possibility for coverage of future expenses.

Applications can be found on the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center's website. The Center provides free resources to victim’s families, responders and survivors of the shooting. Services include victim advocacy, legal support for civil matters and counseling. Staff are available to answer questions at (833) 299-243.
