City water departments in Kalispell and Lakeside are warning their customers about a potential scam caller.
Both departments received one call each from customers today, who said someone had called them and threatened to turn off their water within a half hour if they didn’t call an 800 number and pay their bill. Both customers called their water departments instead.
Water bills are sent by mail or with prior authorization via email. Most water departments do not accept payment over the phone.
Water departments in the area urge customers to contact them if they have questions or fear they’re being scammed.
