A 26-year-old man was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon in Glacier National Park.
He reportedly jumped from a ledge into a shallow pool in Running Eagle Falls, according to the Associated Press. Medical services responded within minutes to the scene, but were unable to resuscitate him.
Glacier’s Tim Rains says that visitors should be particularly cautious around water features,
"Especially this time of year when you have the runoff occurring and you have the warm weather, and visitors want to get out in the park and they want to be out there, and it’s just … it’s just not safe. You know, it just takes a matter of seconds."
Since 2013, there have been 12 deaths in Glacier, five of which were waterfall-related.
The man’s cause of death is still under investigation, but no foul play is suspected. His name has not been released yet.
