Wolf debate part of the “culture war”

Wolves.
David Gilkey

Growing up in Montana, Nathan Rott knew wolves were controversial.

Now, the University of Montana journalism grad is reporting on that controversy for National Public Radio. Rott, and photographer David Gilkey, recently spent several weeks in Montana and Yellowstone National Park, meeting with wolf-lovers, wolf-haters, and wolf scientists. The result is an in-depth report aired on NPR, along with an audio slideshow.
In tonight's feature interview, Rott talks with News Director Sally Mauk about the story - and about his own memory of the wolf debate, while growing up in Missoula.

Retired in 2014 but still a presence at MTPR, Sally Mauk is a University of Kansas graduate and former wilderness ranger who has reported on everything from the Legislature to forest fires.
