The Western Montana Fair recently descended upon Missoula’s Fairgrounds for the 134th time. Along with the food, rides and games there were animals; lots of ‘em. The Glacier Ice Rink and adjoining structures provided a temporary home for about 500 critters of all sizes.
Many were reared by families involved in Montana’s largest out-of-school youth development program, 4-H. Dressed in sharp black pants and crisp white shirts, 4-H’ers presented their animals as well as in-depth knowledge on their characteristics. Reporter Justin Steck visited with participants of the event.
