Should more schools teach "Social-Emotional Intelligence"?

Sussex School

The director of a private Missoula K-8 school attended a training seminar last month at U-C Berkeley to learn more about teaching "social-emotional learning skills".
Sussex School's Robyn Gaddy believes it's important for schools to teach skills that she says help develop the "emotional literacy" of students.

Gaddy earned her Master of Science in Experimental Education.
In this evening's feature interview with Edward O'Brien, Gaddy explains why these social-emotional learning skills should be taught right along side other core subjects.

Edward O’Brien first landed at Montana Public Radio three decades ago as a news intern while attending the UM School of Journalism. He covers a wide range of stories from around the state.
