Abortion rights advocates are asking Montana voters to add protections for abortion access into the state Constitution.

Supporters of a constitutional initiative to protect abortion access in Montana say they’ve collected more than enough signatures to put the measure on the ballot in November.

After Roe v Wade was overturned in June 2022, doctors said a wave of young people started showing up in their offices asking for permanent birth control - like tubal ligations or vasectomies.

Planned Parenthood of Montana has stopped offering medication abortion services to out-of-state residents, according to a statement released this week.

"It's one thing to say that we support unborn children and support mothers, but we aren't just pro-birth, we're pro-life," Montana Catholic Conference Executive Director Matthew Brower says.
