Firefighters from around the country are helping fight the Lolo Creek Complex fire west of Lolo, and some, like New York City assistant fire chief Ron Spadafora are there to learn more about how fires are fought in the West.
The 59-year-old Spadafora is a 35-year veteran of the New York City fire department, having risen from the ranks to become the department's Chief of Logistics.
Spadafora was one of the first responders on the scene on 9/11, and personally knew many of the firefighters who lost their lives trying to save others.
"I arrived on the scene and the North Tower had just collapsed; we were trying to organize our troops"
