The Flathead National Forest says it’s received a new permit application for Holland Lake Lodge. A Forest Service spokesperson says the application is for the continued use of the lodge in its existing footprint, with no proposed expansion.

Flathead National Forest Supervisor Kurt Steele is leaving his post after accepting a new role within the Forest Service. A grizzly bear in the Madison range southeast of Ennis was killed by a hunter last week.
