Briefs: Buffalo roam the Blackfeet Nation; Comment on state grizzly bear plan
The Blackfeet Nation released roughly two dozen free-roaming wild buffalo onto tribal lands bordering Glacier National Park Monday. Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks is asking for the public’s input on changes to the state’s plan for managing grizzly bears.

Forest project scaled back over impacts on grizzly bears; Upper Tenmile cleanup meeting
The U.S. Forest Service has settled with two Montana conservation groups over a proposed 140,000 acre project northeast of Helena; A public meeting to discuss the Upper Tenmile cleanup project is scheduled for April 18 at 6 p.m. at the Rimini Fire Station near Helena.

As grizzly populations expand, communities are learning how to live with bears
As grizzly bears continue expanding eastward outside of federal recovery zones, landowners are prepping for life with their new neighbors. Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks is hosting a series of Grizzly Bear Educational Workshops in central Montana.
American Prairie announces 70,000 acre land purchase
Conservation group American Prairie announced its second largest land acquisition in the history of the nonprofit. Like previous American Prairie land purchases, the move has stirred controversy.

Country of origin labeling helps consumers know where the food they’re buying came from. It’s required for products such as fruits and vegetables, and proteins like seafood and chicken. Missing from that list since 2015 are pork and beef.
