Is this the end?
Several fires in Montana are still smoldering, but as the weather changes, the busiest part of the fire season appears to be coming to an end. Barring a big blowup, this will mark the last of our wildfire updates until next spring. We will continue to publish stories about other fire-related news.
Keep your eyes and ears open for a podcast dedicated to the decisionmaking that guides firefighting and how that shapes our understanding of wildfire. That's slated to come out in early 2021.
Until then, make sure your fire is dead out, don't drag your chains and start thinking now about how you'll deal with smokey skys next year.
