Glacier National Park has selected an interim superintendent that will start in January. Kate Hammond will come on board in January as Glacier National Park’s interim superintendent. Current Superintendent Jeff Mow retires at the end of the year.

Hammond is the current deputy regional director and chief of staff for the National Park Service’s Intermountain Region. She’s held that position since 2016 and oversees 46 park units in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and New Mexico.

Hammond will be stepping into her temporary role as Glacier National Park gears up for another busy season and considers what its ticketed entry system will look like after the inaugural summer of limiting visitors during peak hours this year.

There is no timeline to find a permanent replacement for the superintendent position
