The U.S. Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that Montana will get nearly $48 million in grants for airports. It’s part of $477 million in airport improvement grants nationwide.

Missoula’s airport will receive the most, more than $9 million. This comes less than a year after an $8.7 million DOT grant to demolish and replace a terminal. Kalispell is set to receive nearly $6 million, and Bozeman will get about $3 million.

Both of Montana’s senators claimed credit for securing the grants. Jon Tester and Steve Daines are both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
