A proposal to claw back funds for public media has already passed the House of Representatives. Glacier National Park opened a public comment period on Wednesday on a plan for future management of two-dozen park-owned cabins and structures around Lake McDonald.

The Lake McDonald Properties Management Plan Draft Environmental Assessment evaluates two alternatives for preservation and administration of the properties, most of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

One alternative suggests no action. A second so-called “adaptive management approach,” which the Park prefers, outlines a range of options for each property.

The Park will accept comments on the plan now through March 1.

The EA is available through the park’s planning website. Comments can be made directly through this website, or written to: Superintendent, Glacier National Park, Attn: Lake McDonald Properties Management Plan EA, PO Box 128 West Glacier, Montana 59936.
