The former director of the state chemical dependency treatment center has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from his arrest at a Butte bar.

The Montana Standard reports Mark Jay Catalanello pleaded not guilty Tuesday in City Court to disorderly conduct and marijuana possession. He requested a jury trial and said he had a private attorney.

The state Board of Medical Examiners suspended Catalanello's medical license in October after receiving reports that he appeared to be using some sort of an intoxicant. The board is scheduled to act on Catalanello's license on Friday and could continue the suspension or revoke it.

Catalanello also was a physician at the Montana State Hospital in Warm Springs before his license was suspended.

The board previously suspended Catalanello's license from 2004 to 2007 for drug possession and DUI.
