Back in early spring Montana’s summer drought conditions were expected to be a lot worse than they currently are. June storms brought some relief, but the long-term outlook is less encouraging.

Areas around the northern Rocky Mountain Front are predicted to experience severe drought, while much of the rest of the state is predicted to see a moderate drought or abnormally dry conditions.

Officials with Montana’s Drought and Water Supply Advisory committee say the state’s drought conditions have persisted in the fall, but they’re cautiously optimistic about upcoming weather patterns.
