Montana lawmakers last week pumped the brakes on a proposal to drastically expand the amount of tax incentives the state provides to film production.

Advocates for the Montana film industry say the state has seen an uptick in productions since it began awarding tax credits. Now, the industry is encouraging the legislature to expand the amount of credits on offer in the next lawmaking session.

More than a dozen movie and TV productions filming on-location across Montana will share half a million dollars in grants from the Montana Film Office. The Big Sky Film Grants promote tourism and the state’s filmmaking industry.
