Musician's Spotlight: Randall Goosby

Randall Goosby
Randall Goosby

Violinist Randall Goosby’s much anticipated debut recording is featured along with conversation with host John Floridis on the next Musician’s Spotlight. Goosby decided to forgo the usual show pieces a virtuoso musician might feature for a debut release and instead chose to feature either African American composers (Florence Price, William Grant Still and Samuel Coleridge- Taylor, Xavier Foley) or music that was deeply influenced by black music and written by composers who had great respect for that influence (Gershwin, Dvorak) "For me, music has always been a way to inspire others. it’s part of my quest and an artist to amplify black voices in classical music.”

John Floridis, the host and producer of Musician's Spotlight, has been with Montana Public Radio since 1997. He has interviewed over 200 musicians during that time. He is also an independent recording and performing artist in his own right and a former registered music therapist.
