Brian Kahn talks with faculty members Sam Koenen and Beth Stohlmann, and junior Nathan Mayville, of Petra Academy of Bozeman, MT. Petra is an accredited member of the Association of Classical and Christian Schools.
Mayville says: ""Whenever we go over a concept, the teacher always finds a way to relate it to creation or moral codes that are inherent to Christianity. We just read Thomas Aquinas's "Summa Theologica" in Humanities. It has a lot of discussion of morality and what is goodness, so in the classroom, tied very closely to that book is how we should apply that to ourselves through a Christian lens. We were assigned a paper where we had to imagine what our friends and family would be saying about us at our funeral. We've learned throughout our academic career how to think critically and ethically. This assignment makes you turn those inward to look at yourself, look at your strengths and weaknesses and through that, become a better person."
