Celebrate Public Radio Music Day On MTPR

Celebrate Public Radio Music Day with us, April 16, 2020.

Celebrate the first ever Public Radio Music Day with us on Thursday, April 16! Stations across the country will highlight the special role noncommercial stations play in the music world both locally and nationally.

MTPR will celebrate hand-picked music all day, with songs and special announcements from Montana musicians.

Don't miss Thursday's special at 8 p.m. This show will feature "comfort music" selected by MTPR staff,  music hosts and producers. And you can share your comfort music picks for our next special.

Tune in for Morning Classics at 9 a.m.; a special Freeforms co-hosted by MTPR producers Beau Baker and Cole Grant at 11 a.m.; a hand-picked Jazz Sessions with Terry Conrad at 2 p.m.; Thistle and Shamrock at 9:30 p.m.

Our talented producers have decades of experience and large music collections to pull from for every show. We’re also excited to highlight our Montana musicians who have been hit hard by the shelter-in-place orders and the changes they've brought for live music.

Public Radio Music Day is the brainchild of the noncomMUSIC Alliance. It celebrates public radio's role in connecting musicians, performers and artists with the public radio audiences who enjoy and support their music. The alliance says they are dedicated to boosting the work of noncommercial public radio as an essential component of music discovery, curation, preservation, performance, and community.

Michael Marsolek is the program director of Montana Public Radio. He also hosts Tuesday Freeforms and Thursday Morning Classics.
