The Lucky Valentines: New And Used Americana From Fort Benton

Shaun and Jamie Carrier of The Lucky Valentines met playing tunes at a fundraiser in Fort Benton, Montana. Cupid’s arrow pierced them and their shared love of classical music, rock ‘n roll, alt-country, blues, indie, Christian and folk music. Married on February 14, 2010, today they travel Montana in a giant RV with four kids and their co-written “new and used Americana” songs that reflect the beautiful, lonesome landscape of north-central Montana. Their 2016 independent release, “Lion in the Garden,” is a collection of songs that explores betrayal, loss, and joy.

(Broadcast: "Musician's Spotlight,"  8/30/18 and 12/13/18. Listen on the radio Thursdays, 7:30 p.m., or via podcast.)

John Floridis, the host and producer of Musician's Spotlight, has been with Montana Public Radio since 1997. He has interviewed over 200 musicians during that time. He is also an independent recording and performing artist in his own right and a former registered music therapist.
