Every day, MTPR brings you thoughtful discussions on community issues, amplifies Montana voices, educates and entertains. This community service is only freely available to everyone because people like you invest in its success.

You’re investing in a station that has no plans to shrink or fold. We know the work we do matters in Montana. We know public media offers something you can't get elsewhere. And we know that in this moment, what we do is too valuable to minimize.

Bonnie Raitt: Playing The Blues Is A 'Fully Engaged Spiritual Endeavor'

Marina Chavez

Legendary singer and guitarist Bonnie Raitt joins host John Floridis on this week's "Musician's Spotlight" to discuss her release, “Dig In Deep," which is the latest of her 17 studio albums. This is Part Two of a two-part program.  Besides performing all over the world, Raitt has participated as a special guest on over 185 outside projects over the years, including duets with John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Broadway star (and Bonnie's father) John Raitt, Aretha Franklin, Willie Nelson, Tony Bennett, and Ray Charles. In 1988, she was one of the co-founders of the Rhythm and Blues Foundation, which works to improve royalties and recognition for a whole generation of R&B pioneers.

Join John Floridis and the multiple Grammy Award-winning musician named by Rolling Stone as one of both the "100 Greatest Singers of All Time" and "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."

(Broadcast: "Musician's Spotlight,"  09/7/17 and 12/7/17. Listen on the radio Thursdays, 7:30 p.m., or via podcast.)

John Floridis, the host and producer of Musician's Spotlight, has been with Montana Public Radio since 1997. He has interviewed over 200 musicians during that time. He is also an independent recording and performing artist in his own right and a former registered music therapist.
