Fully Vaccinated Americans Can Travel To Canada Starting August 9, Officials Say
Public Health Agency of Canada officials announced Monday that fully vaccinated Americans and Canadians living in the U.S. will be allowed to travel north across the border starting Aug. 9.
The Canadian government says it’s a step before borders are opened to any fully vaccinated travelers on September 7. Canadian Minister of health Patty Hajdu says the “gradual approach to reopening will allow our health authorities to monitor the COVID-19 situation here and abroad.”
Starting August 9, fully-vaccinated travelers will be exempt from the government-authorized quarantine if arriving by air. All travelers will still require a COVID-19 test before entering the country, regardless of vaccination status. They will also be required to create a quarantine plan, in case they do not meet necessary requirements upon arrival.
U.S. Senators Steve Daines and Jon Tester Monday both called on President Biden’s administration to open the border to allow travel of Canadians into the country.
