The Montana Republican Party is reviving claims aimed at disqualifying the Democratic attorney general candidate from the November ballot.
The GOP filed a petition with the Montana Supreme Court Monday, alleging Democrat Raph Graybill is ineligible to run for the office. The party claims Graybill has not practiced law long enough to meet the position’s requirements.
A similar claim submitted to the Montana Commissioner of Political Practices ahead of the June 2 primary was dismissed. That attempt to knock Graybill off the ballot came from a Democrat financial supporting Graybill’s then-primary opponent.
The Commissioner of Political Practices ruled Graybill did meet the qualifications to appear on the ballot this year.
The Montana Supreme Court has asked Graybill to respond to the Montana Republican Party's claims by close of business on Monday, August 10.
