The U.S. Forest Service has begun prescribed burn projects for thousands of acres within the Lolo National Forest. A press release from the Forest Service says the projects will run through November.
The Missoula Ranger District started prescribed burns Tuesday 3 miles northeast of Missoula. Smoke may be visible from the upper Rattlesnake and the Missoula valley for the next few days.
Prescribed burn projects are also underway in the Ninemile Valley, near Clear Creek southwest of Thompson falls, two miles southeast of Seeley Lake and in the Tamarack Creek area north of St. Regis.
