Montana Public Radio Statement On Garrison Keillor

Montana Public Radio

Montana Public Radio will no longer be airing The Writer’s Almanac with Garrison Keillor after learning of allegations of his inappropriate behavior with an individual who worked with him. Minnesota Public Radio has terminated contracts with Keillor and his public media companies after learning of the allegations, and the show will no longer be produced or distributed. MTPR supports that decision.

MTPR is shocked by Mr. Keillor’s behavior and is working to remove any content from our program schedule. Montana Public Radio and the University of Montana have strong policies in place to discourage this type of behavior as well as resources to assist anyone who feels they have been a target of sexual misconduct.

While revelations like these are uncomfortable for everyone, Montana Public Radio is committed to a safe workplace and to partnerships with organizations that share this conviction.

Update: Why Writers Almanac is going away.

Thanks to everyone who gave us feedback on the Garrison Keillor news. We hear you. Our Program Director Michael Marsolek has some additional thoughts and clarifications. You make public radio possible, and we always love hearing from you. Please reach out if you have any further questions or comments.
