Monday, December 07

  • 8 p.m. - You Must Remember This

    The most notable response to the Pearl Harbor attack was President Roosevelt's "Day of Infamy" address to Congress. Few remember that the First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, responded on the radio on the night of the attack one day before her husband's speech. Eleanor Roosevelt was the country's major morale booster throughout the War. She travelled not just throughout the country but across the globe offering comfort and support. Her "My Day" newspaper column offered assurance to millions of readers. We'll feature her December speech, her column, the music and the homefront coping during the War on the Monday evening program

    The Day John Lennon Died - December 8, 1980, musician John Lennon was shot and killed outside of his apartment building in New York City by a deluded fan. Producer Paul Ingles asked various people to recall how they heard the news and what John Lennon's music meant to them. Fourteen Lennon songs are woven into the mix.
