The state budget bill passed the House today on a party line vote.

People concerned about the contaminated Smurfit Stone paper mill site west of Missoula are meeting tonight in Frenchtown at 6 PM.

An amendment to add $3 million to the budget to implement the state's water compact with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes was rejected. The Montana House has given initial approval to a $10.2 billion state budget for the next two
years.
