The House has approved a proposal to eliminate $700 million in already-approved funding for public media. If enacted, it would strip essential services and could force rural stations off the air. The Senate will take up the bill next.

This week for Honor, Hope and Healing Week, listen to host Lauren Korn read "Winter Field," by former University of Montana professor Joanna Klink. This poem was published both in the Boston Review and in her collection, Circadian, out from Penguin Poets.

Joanna Klink is the author of five books of poetry. Her new book, The Nightfields, was published by Penguin in July. A recent Guggenheim Fellow, she teaches in the Michener Center for Writers in Austin, Texas.

Lauren R. Korn holds an M.A. in poetry from the University of New Brunswick, where she was the recipient of the Tom Riesterer Memorial Prize and the Angela Ludan Levine Memorial Book Prize. A former bookseller and the former Director of the Montana Book Festival, she is now an Arts and Culture Producer at Montana Public Radio and the host of it’s literature-based radio program and podcast, ‘The Write Question.’
