A proposal to claw back funds for public media has already passed the House of Representatives. Hill Panel Grills Baseball Icons About Steroids

Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and other stars testify on Capitol Hill about performance-enhancing drugs in professional baseball. Also on hand was former star Jose Canseco, who says illegal steroids have been widely used in the sport. Lawmakers questioned players, league officials and others for more than 11 hours. The players repeatedly asked lawmakers to focus on the future and not the past.
