A proposal to claw back funds for public media has already passed the House of Representatives. Montana Public Radio and stations across the country receive critical federal funds to strengthen our work. The Senate could vote on the proposal in the coming days. Herd on the Street: 'Buffalo' Nickel Returns

The U.S. Mint unveils a new design for the nickel. The new coin features a tightly cropped close-up of Thomas Jefferson on the front and an American bison on the back -- marking the buffalo's return to the five-cent coin for the first time since 1938.

The bison replaces Monticello, Jefferson's Virginia home, on the back of the nickel.

NPR's Robert Siegel discusses the new coin with Joe Fitzgerald, who designed the coin's new Jefferson front.
