A proposal to claw back funds for public media has already passed the House of Representatives. Montana Public Radio and stations across the country receive critical federal funds to strengthen our work. The Senate could vote on the proposal in the coming days. First Responders Need Funding

Money intended to fund local Homeland Security initiatives is tied up in the congressional appropriations process. That means local governments haven't received funds to help equip emergency workers who would be first-responders to a terror attack. NPR's Andrea Seabrook reports.
