A fourth Democrat and former state lawmaker has joined the race for Montana’s new congressional seat.
Tom Winter, a former state representative from Missoula, announced his run for the U.S. House on Wednesday, saying populism and progressivism can win.
Winter joins fellow Democrats Laurie Bishop, a state lawmaker, Cora Neumann, who runs a public health nonprofit, and Monica Tranel, an attorney, in the race. Republicans running for the seat include former U.S. Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke and former state Sen. Al Olszewski.
Winter previously ran for Congress in 2020 and lost in his party’s primary.
Officials are still in the process of drawing the state’s new congressional districts after the 2020 Census resulted in Montana gaining back a federal seat.
Republican Matt Rosendale holds Montana’s current seat in the U.S. House.
