Bullock And Daines Head For First Debate

Candidates for U.S. Senate Steve Bullock and Steve Daines will face off in their first debate this weekend. The Greater Montana Foundation and Montana Broadcasters Association are co-sponsoring the debate, which will be held on a video-chat due to concerns of the novel coronavirus.

Montana’s U.S. Senate race is in the national spotlight as Democrats and Republicans compete for a political majority in the chamber. The Bullock-Daines matchup could play a role in deciding where parties' balance of power lands following the November election.

Daines, the incumbent Republican, is seeking a second term in the U.S. Senate. He previously represented Montana for one term in the U.S. House.

Bullock, Montana’s two-term Democratic governor, previously held the office of Attorney General for the state.

Montana Public Radio plans to broadcast the debate Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock. The debate will be recorded Saturday.
