The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes are lifting the Flathead Indian Reservation’s shelter-in-place order mid-July. The order was first issued in late March, when novel coronavirus cases were detected in the state.
The CSKT Tribal Council made the decision Tuesday, and is lifting the order July 13 — barring any new spikes in confirmed cases of COVID-19. The council originally intended to lift the order June 29, according to Chairwoman Shelly Fyant, but held back because of last week’s mass-testing event on the reservation.
“But we wanted to give it a week to get our test results back, and also let the Fourth of July holiday pass,” she said.
Tribal employees will return to their respective offices once the order is lifted, Fyant added.
