The latest on wildfires around western Montana.

The nearly 8,300 acre Roaring Lion fire southwest of Hamilton is now 60 percent contained, up from yesterday’s 50 percent. The contingency line tying into the recent Observation Fire is now complete.

Relative humidity is expected to stay higher than normal for the next few days due to the recent unseasonably wet conditions.

Around 100 firefighters assigned to the Roaring Lion Fire are now working with crews from the Bitterroot National Forest on the Lost Trail Fire. That fire is currently at 8 acres.

The Copper King fire, burning east of Thompson Falls, is now 18 percent contained.

While the area is experiencing cooler temperatures and higher moisture levels, this weekend is expected to be much hotter and drier.

The Copper King is now nearly 1,500 acres.
