"If you've ever heard a piano quartet performed, chances are the piece was either composed or arranged by these guys," says Christopher Hahn of the UM School of Music. "Two pianos, eight hands, the sound is truly symphonic. Nobody does it better."
The American Piano Quartet will be featured at the Celebrate Piano series from the UM School of Music on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Dennison Theater in Missoula. They'll perform at 7:30 p.m. They stopped by Montana Public Radio to give a taste of what they have planned.
"The American Piano Quartet has performed worldwide in concerts that have been broadcast on radio and television," said quartet member Scott Holden. "We have made 10 tours of Germany alone, in addition to numerous concerts in Asia, South America, Europe, and throughout the United States."
Quartet members Scott Holden and Robin Hancock are faculty members of BYU's School of Music, and Jeffrey Shumway is an alumnus from both BYU and Juilliard. The fourth member, Del Parkinson, teaches piano at Boise State University and received a postgraduate diploma from Juilliard after completing his undergraduate work in London.
