Helena’s psychiatric children’s hospital is expanding its campus with hopes of treating more patients in-state.
Shodair Children’s Hospital recently broke ground near its current campus on a new 25,000-square-foot building that will house a psychiatric outpatient clinic and medical genetics department.
According to a news release, the $10 million project should be completed by next February. It’s part of a broad expansion at Shodair.
Administrators say the expansion will mean more outpatients can access its medical genetics department, the only one in the state, which treats conditions like development delays and neurological disorders. Patients otherwise have to travel to Denver or Seattle for care.
Shodair hospital also operates outpatient clinics in Butte, Bozeman and Missoula.
