A second state-sponsored monoclonal antibody treatment clinic is opening in western Montana.

Gov. Greg Gianforte’s office Monday announced the clinic will be at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. The first clinic sponsored by the state opened in Butte late last month.

Monoclonal antibody treatment aids the immune system in fighting COVID-19. It has received federal emergency use authorization for COVID-positive patients with mild-to-moderate cases or people who are at high risk of having a severe case.

Hospital officials and Gov. Gianforte say monoclonal antibodies can help treat COVID-19, but vaccination is the most effective protection from the virus.
