ISLAND PARK, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say a federally protected grizzly bear has been illegally killed in eastern Idaho and are offering a reward of at least $5,000 for information leading to the person or persons responsible.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game says it's working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to learn more about what happened in the killing of the young grizzly bear in Island Park.
Official say the Citizens Against Poaching hotline received a tip on Saturday and investigators located the decomposing carcass in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest.
Fish and Wildlife is adding $5,000 to the potential reward that includes $600 from the Citizens Against Poaching.
