Industry-funded opponents of two Montana citizen's initiatives are vastly outspending the measures' supporters to put their messages in front of voters about a month before Election Day.

Montana attorney general Tim Fox is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to reconsider a 2003 ruling that says it's unconstitutional to bring new charges after a state's statute of limitations for the crime has expired.

A Montana district judge has ruled that the state improperly revoked a Billings medical marijuana provider's license by not giving the dispensary owner time to correct violations before revoking the license and effectively shutting down the business in August.

Opponents of the ballot initiative to raise Montana’s tobacco tax dumped more than $3.5 million into their campaign in September, raising their spending total to more than $12 million.

Tomorrow night, state environmental regulators are holding a public input meeting in Butte on Montana Resource’s application to expand the tailings impoundment next to their active copper mine there.

The Bitterroot National Forest yesterday re-opened the objection period for mountain bikes in wilderness study areas, following a court order to do so.
