Vice President Mike Pence arrived in Billings this afternoon.

Authorities in western Montana have released the names of a couple that died in a murder-suicide at the residence east of Corvallis.

On the day Republican Candidate Greg Gianforte was grabbing headlines in and around Billings because of Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to the state, Democrat Rob Quist was at a low key event in Missoula. Senators from both parties have reached agreement on a long-stalled bill to make it easier for the Department of Veterans Affairs to fire its employees, as part of an accountability effort touted by President Donald Trump.

For the first time since 2011, the Pacific Northwest isn't showing any signs of drought. Four people have died in three days in highway crashes in Montana.
