On this edition of the Montana Evening Newscast, Ivan Doig, an award-winning author whose books set in his native Montana made him one of the most respected writers of the American West, has died. He was 75.

The Montana House has passed the hotly-contested Medicaid expansion bill. MTPR's Steve Jess followed the debate at the capitol.

Friday at the state Legislature, lawmakers will hear about a bill that would change who investigates false medical marijuana claims, and ups the penalties.

The body of former Gov. Tim Babcock will lie in state at the Capitol Rotunda on Friday.

Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home says mourners can pay tribute to Babcock at the Capitol from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
